Biography
Dr. Amy Jo Marcano-Reik, DPM, PhD, is a Physician-Surgeon-Scientist with over 20-years of experience in higher education and leading and collaborating on clinical and biomedical research (including helping to secure NIH grants). She has served as a grant reviewer for the United States Department of Health and Human Services for nearly a decade contributing to medical education and program developments across the nation.
Prior to joining the University of Jamestown, Dr. Marcano-Reik served as the Assistant Director of Research Programs at Case Western Reserve University in the School of Medicine and helped launch the Center for AI Enabling Discovery in Disease Biology (AID2B) and recently served as Director of Research for the American Society of Podiatric Surgeons for Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine.
In addition to her role as program director for UJ’s Master of Science in Computational Pathology and Digital Medicine (MSCPDM) and Master of Science in Medical Sciences (MSMS) programs, Dr. Marcano-Reik is a faculty member in UJ’s Clinical Research PhD Program and serves as a PhD Advisor and Committee Chair for PhD students.
Along with her academic roles, Dr. Marcano-Reik continues to practice medicine and surgery, caring for patients with a wide range of lower extremity conditions. Through evidence-based care, her clinical focus is on restoring mobility and improving each patient’s quality of life. She is also an active scholar, having published multiple peer-reviewed journal articles in the health sciences and contributed several book chapters. Dr. Marcano-Reik is the sole author of a book on brain health, reflecting her broader commitment to advancing health and wellness through research and education.
