The Master of Science in Clinical Counseling (MCC) program from University of Jamestown Accelerated was designed to equip students with the skills necessary to become effective, resilient counselors.  

The program’s online delivery method is designed to meet the needs of working professionals, which means you can complete your degree from wherever you are with a one-week, in-person residency on UJ’s Jamestown campus during the first summer of the program.   

About the Program  

Through the Master of Science in Clinical Counseling program at University of Jamestown, you’ll be prepared to become a Licensed Professional Counselor as you learn from seasoned educators and active practitioners. With no pre-testing requirements, you can get started right away. And with 24/7 access to our online classrooms, you can complete your coursework when it’s most convenient for you. 

 The MCC program offers students individuated attention and advising from faculty who are leaders in their field, as well as opportunities to form supportive, personal relationships with classmates in your cohort. You’ll become knowledgeable in principles and practices of diagnosis, treatment, referral and prevention while receiving focused clinical education and experiential training with a case-oriented learning approach.

Professional counselors are able to work with a lot of independence, and this program develops the skills needed to thrive in that kind of work environment. As such, our Master of Science degree in Clinical Counseling is a great fit for students who are self-motivated and energized by the challenge of coursework that is both in-depth and fast-paced.

Admission Criteria 

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, or a related field, from a regionally accredited university 
  • 18 psychology credits preferred, but not required
  • Successful completion of an interview 

How to Apply 

There are two avenues to be admitted into University of Jamestown Master of Science in Clinical Counseling Program:

Any current or future online or on campus undergraduate student (high school senior through college senior) at the University of Jamestown can apply for direct entry into the MCC program at any point during their time at UJ without applying through PSYCAS (see below). The program will hold a position for the applicant, pending successful completion of the program requirements. Apply now for direct entry. 

This option is only for current or future University of Jamestown students. All other applicants are welcome to apply through PSYCAS. 

Apply through PSYCAS, the Psychology Centralized Application Service. 

Interviews will take place on a rolling basis with classes starting in the fall (August) of every year. Offers will be made to qualified applicants following an interview. After review of the application, a student may be accepted, rejected, or a decision may be deferred. It is to the student’s advantage to apply as early as possible. 

The application deadlines are typically in July. Please refer to PSYCAS for official application deadlines. Applications will be processed as they are submitted and verified by PSYCAS. We have a rolling admissions process, and we generally interview shortly after we receive the completed and verified application. 

All required documents must be uploaded into PSYCAS for processing; do not mail or email documents to the program. Incomplete and/or unverified applications are not accepted. 

University of Jamestown Master of Science in Clinical Counseling program gives priority to graduates of University of Jamestown. 

Tuition and Cost

We are committed to making a Master of Science in Clinical Counseling degree from University of Jamestown as practical and affordable as possible.  

  • 60 graduate credit hours at $670 per credit 
  • One-week residency fees included in the cost of tuition 
  • Beginning in 2024, all incoming students will be required to pay a $250 non-refundable enrollment fee

Career Preparation

Our Master of Science in Clinical Counseling program prepares students to work in a variety of environments such as community mental health centers, hospitals, university counseling centers, private practice, correctional centers and more.

Practicum and Internship

During the second year of the program, students complete practicum and internship field experiences, to be determined between the student and the program’s clinical coordinator. These hands-on experiences give students the opportunity to discover or confirm the types of counseling that most suit them and then begin conducting actual therapy with the benefit of support and supervision.
